To see a World in a Grain of Sand

I am an actor and director. I have worked as an assistant for Stella Adler’s Studio of Acting Shakespeare Intensive Programme in New York City; as assistant director to J.G.Rubin on Ibsen’s A Doll House at the Brooklyn Center for Theatre Research; as assistant director to D. Karantzas on The Persians at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. I myself have directed Albert Camus’ The Just Assasins, and am currently directing and playing in Romeo & Juliet, a part of Glossomatheia’s Suitcase Stories project. I am also a working actor in Athens, I have a cat and I love rollerblading and drawing.

A common saying in my world is that theatre is like a game, but a serious one. It’s not easy, but it’s simple. It’s about exploration, trial and error and constantly asking questions. And of course, at its core, it’s about learning how to communicate and connect.

I really believe in learning out of curiosity, and with tenderness. I will be teaching a Deeper Learning class on Shakespeare this year, and I cannot wait to explore this universe along with the students and form our very own Shakespeare Company. Shakespeare is meant to be spoken, heard, brought to life. Communicated. Let’s knock the Bard off that pedestal, and meet with him - I think we might find he just wants to play.

Lena Papatheodorou

She believes that learning a language goes beyond communication: it is about discovering new ways of seeing, feeling, and being in the world.

Maria Kanellopoulou

Teacher of French

The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go

Coucou! I’m Maria and and I graduated from the Department of French Language and Literature of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. I also hold a Master degree from the University of Angers, in France and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on Language Teachers in Europe : Training for the Linguistic and Cultural Diversity in Schools. I teach French through games and playful activities. I have worked in kindergartens teaching French language through the Montessori approach, but I have also taught Greek to French speakers.

My role is to encourage children to learn in autonomy through their own experiences, to help them conceptualise in french language, to aid them develop their own learning strategies and build their identity through the foreign language, to motivate them, to cultivate their creative and critical thinking, to encourage a positive environment where they feel relaxed, valorized and finally to make learning a creative journey.

As for my personal interests, I like traveling, books, french movies and aerial dancing.

I believe that we learn by playing since only then we start to explore, learn, collaborate, respect each other and discover ourselves.

Jason Bitter Kourounis

French Teacher

"No one can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of your knowledge" ―Kahlil Gibran

His background in the performing arts further shaped his teaching approach, providing him with tools to combine creativity, expression, and play in the classroom. Through theatre-based language labs, storytelling, and interactive exercises, Jason encourages students to explore French and Greek not only as languages, but as living, expressive mediums.

His deep understanding of both languages — their similarities, differences, and inner workings — allows him to make learning engaging, culturally rich, and fun, encouraging students to discover not only the language but also their own voice.

"No one can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of your knowledge" ―Kahlil Gibran

He began his career working as a translator for television, radio, and artistic events, gaining insight into how language connects people across cultures. Working with children in camps and after-school programs during his BAFA training helped him understand that curiosity is the gateway to learning, and that sparking a child’s interest is key to meaningful language acquisition.
